Monthly calibration of analytical balance

Purpose: To lay down a procedure for calibration of the analytical balance

Responsibility: Microbiologist / Chemist Q.C.

Accountability: Head of Q.C. / Q.A.

Procedure:

·                 Ensure that analytical balance is clean.

·                 Check the level of the balance with the help of sprit level. If the bubble is not in the center set with the help of two screws on the front side.

·                  Operate the analytical balance as per SOP

·                    Put on the weight of one by one on the pan. (given in Table).

·                    Record the value on Format

·                    Fill the calibration tag and attached it with analytical balance.

·                    Inform to Head of Q.A. in case any problem observed.

Eccentricity:

Oval: BOval: APlace the 50 g weight at position “E”                                              (center position) and press tare key.                                                   The display shows zero.

Oval: DOval: COval: EMove the weight to test points A, B, C & D                                                as shown in Fig. 101.1 and record the                                                  observation.

Acceptance Criteria:

           ± 0.00001g (Model: GR202)

           ± 0.0001g (Model: GR200)

Uncertainty:                                                                                                         Fig.

Take the 10 replicate weighing of 100 mg weight and record the weighing.

Calculate measured uncertainty using the formula given below

                                       3 x Standard Deviation
