Calibration of Manometer | 15 steps in calibration
In this article you will learn the procedure of calibration of a manometer. The calibration of manometer can be carried out same as a pressure gauge calibration.
· Connect tube with low-pressure calibrator at ‘P1’ high-pressure side and connect other side to pressure generator.
Connect the unit under calibration with another nozzle of pressure generators.
· Leave the low-pressure side connection of pressure calibrator & unit under calibration to atmosphere.
· Pressurize system by turning knob clockwise for pressure and anti-clockwise in case of vacuum.
· Set various combination of pressure point from minimum to full span of manometer / low pressure gauges and digital indicator with transmitter and note down in record format
· Now gradually increase the pressure with the help of pressure generator by turning knob clockwise and take reading for upscale of low-pressure calibrator (master calibrator) & unit under calibration.
· Release pressure slowly by turning knob anticlockwise of pressure generator and take reading for down scale against low-pressure calibrator.
· Note down reading for upscale and down scale in record format Annexure-I.
· Calculate % variation of manometer/low pressure gauges and digital indicator with transmitter in upscale and down scale by using following formula.
· Variation in % of span at upscale = [(X-Y1)/span] x 100 &
Variation in % of span at down scale = [(X-Y2)/span] x 100 &
· Where X= low-pressure calibrator reading.
· Where Y1 = upscale reading of manometer/low pressure gauges and digital indicator with transmitter under calibration.
· Where Y2 = down scale reading of manometer/low pressure gauges and digital indicator with transmitter under calibration.
· Note down variation in % of span in record of format Annexure-I.
· Check the variation in % of span shall be within ± 3 %.
· In case of out of calibration replace the manometer/low pressure gauges/digital indicator with transmitter.
