Standard Operating procedure is a document in which all standard process to operate or to execute any process written in a format or in Defined style.
There are many formats available which different Industries adopt as per their requirements. A common Standard Operating procedure example is as per following Detail.

So Let’s take an example for Standard Operating Procedure of Air Handling Unit

Purpose
To describe the procedure for operation of AHU.
Scope
This standard operating procedure is applicable for operation of AHU installed in (Write Company Name Here).
Responsibility
Operator/Designee of Engineering Department                   Follow operating procedure
Executive/Designee of Engineering Department                   To check log book and operation
Implementation of the procedure
HOD Engineering        To Ensure the timely maintaining log book & implementation of SOP
HOD QA                       Responsible for Implementation and Compliance of the SOP
Procedure:
Pre Requisite:
Check the cleanliness of AHU it should be clean.
Check Power supply.
Ensure that there should not be any leakage in AHU Doors/Frame.
Ensure that supply air damper, return air damper, fresh air damper and bleed air
damper is in open position on the marked position, Frequency for damper position verification to is weekly and should be verified by QA Personnel record damper position
Ensure that hot water generator is working.
Check & ensure that silicon tube of Differential pressure switch is mounted across filters to monitor differential pressure should be properly fitted at their places.
Starting Procedure:
Switch ON the main supply from the main HVAC panel a red indicator will glow up.
Switch ON MCB’s mounted inside the AHU control panel RYB indication glow on AHU control panel.
Switch ON the AHU blowers by turning selector switch to on position from control Panel.
To Switch ON outdoor unit set selector switch to Auto mode.
Set the required temperature & RH on Temperature & RH Controller.       
Observe for any abnormality in running of AHU, if found rectify it.
Check the pressure of Hot water. It should be NLT 1.5 kg/cm2.
Differential pressure across the filter shall be as follow:
Differential pressure across pre filter shall be NMT 160Pa. In case of increase of DP,
Indication will glow on the panel for cleaning of filter, take the filter for cleaning.
Differential pressure across fine filter shall be NMT 180Pa. In case of increase of
DP, Indication will glow on the panel for cleaning of filter, take the filter for cleaning.
Frequency of monitoring of Temperature & RH & Differential Pressure is twice in a day
Shut down Procedure:
Switch OFF the AHU blower by turning selector switch to off position from control
panel Also switch off outdoor unit set selector switch to zero mode.
Switch off MCB’s mounted inside the AHU control panel.
Switch OFF the main supply of the operating panel of AHU by turning selector
switch to off position.
