Vacuum Leak Test | operation of vacuum leak tester

  • Ensure instrument plug is properly connected to power socket.
  • Display will show self-test process which mention “Connect Desiccator.”
  • Check the connectivity of vacuum desiccator with instrument properly to avoid a leakage from tubes and its circumference lid. Display will also show “Press Enter () Press Enter and the instrument will perform self-test by creating vacuum.
  • The instrument will check pump for its normal functioning. If pump function found ok the instrument shows ‘Pass’ status on the LCD screen.
  • In case the function checks fail, place the desiccator lid again ensuring its firm and proper fitment on the desiccator. Restart the instrument.
  • To operate the instrument press, enter (), the display will show Test Run Menu which consist standard mode and Admin mode followed by date and time at the bottom.
  • Place the sample can or bottle inside the desiccator wrapped in the tissue paper properly and cover sample top/ part/ area with tissue, where leakage needs to be checked.
  • Enter the standard mode by pressing “Enter. The next display will show as following:

RET Time (Retention Time)

  • Enter required values as per test, to be performed and press start to initiate the test.

  • After completion of the test the instrument itself releases the vacuum according to the program.

  • After testing wipe the desiccator for any leftover solvent with tissue paper.

Calibration

Take a calibrated vacuum gauge for calibration of instrument. Remove the tube    from the instrument and connect to the vacuum gauge

Run the instrument as mentioned below in the table;

  • Frequency of calibration: Twelve months (for the timer, vacuum gauge and        vacuum holding capacity).

Cleaning Procedure:

  • Cleaning of leak test apparatus by using purified water and clean outer and inner   surface with the help of the lint – free cloth.

  • Place the apparatus for dryness for half an hour.

  • Change the desiccator water twice in a week or as per required.
