SOP on Operating Procedure of Diesel Generator

Purpose

To describe the procedure for Operation of Diesel Generator.

Procedure:

Pre-start activity of Diesel Generator (600 KVA)

• Check diesel oil in diesel tank of DG it should not be less than low level mark.
• Check the lube oil level in sump by dip stick oil gauge located on engine, Oil level should not be less than to “L mark” on the stick, Top up if found level is low.
• Check that the water level of makeup tank of cooling cooler, Top up if found level is low.
• Check Battery voltage in Display it should be 24VDC ± 1V, replace the battery when required.

Procedure to Start the Diesel Generator (600 KVA)

• Turn the DG key of DG to run mode, display screen will glow up.
• After 10 Sec turn the DG key to Crank position, DG will start in crank mode.
• After start of DG then push the Idle push button to run the DG in Idle mode.
• Check Voltage & Frequency of each phase in Display, Voltage should be 410±10volt & Frequency should be 50 Hz.
• Take Change Over from DG Charging Panel to Main DG Panel as per SOP        change over procedure from HPSEB Power supply to Diesel Generator Power or vice-versa SOP NO. PAL/ENG/O/013 (Current Version).
• Note down all the parameter of DG in log sheet of diesel generator as per Format No. PAL/ENG/012/F/01 (Current Version).

Procedure to Shut Down Diesel Generator (600 KVA)

• Trip Air Circuit Breaker on Main DG Panel.
• Press idle push button, then after 2 minutes turn off the dg from toggle switch.

Prestart activity of Diesel Generator (63 KVA)

• Check diesel oil in diesel tank of DG it should not be less than low level mark.
• Check the lube oil level in sump by dip stick oil gauge located on engine, Oil level should not be less than to “L mark” on the stick, Top up if found level is low.
• Check the coolant level in radiator, it should not be less than low mark level, top up if required.
• Check Battery voltage in HMI it should be 24VDC ± 1V, replace the battery when required

Procedure to Start the Diesel Generator (62.5 KVA)

• Push the Manual Mode button.
• Push the start button to start the DG.
• Switch the MCCB to On position.

Procedure to Shut Down Diesel Generator (62.5 KVA)

• Switch the MCCB to off Position.
• After 2 minutes Press the Stop button to Stop the DG.
• Note down all the parameter of DG in log sheet of diesel generator as per Format No. PAL/ENG/012/F/02(Current Version)
