Purpose
This SOP describes the
Procedure for maintenance of Desiccator.
Procedure
Remove all the materials from the desiccator and
keep the same in another desiccator.
Remove the used self-indicating silica gel and
charge for activation at 1500C for 3 hours, record the activity in
LOD Oven log book
Clean the desiccator with water, Teepol solution and
again with water, dry mop it.
Allow it to dry.
Fill the dried self-indicating silica gel.
Transfer back all the materials in the desiccator.
Ensure that all the containers placed in desiccator
are labelled.
Clean the desiccator and replace the dried self-indicating
silica gel after every week or when Blue colour silica change to Light blue
When colour of silica change Blue to Light blue
indicate the replacement of used silica gel.
If the self-indicating silica gel does not occupy
its original form, then discard it and
use fresh silica gel.
