Purpose
This SOP describes the procedure for operation and
calibration of Moisture Balance.
Scope
This
procedure is applicable for operation and calibration of Moisture Balance located
at ABC Limited
Procedure :
Operation
- Clean the instrument with clean and dry cloth.
- Ensure that the instrument is calibrated.
- Turn ON the main switch followed by the ‘ON/OFF’ switch,.
- Switch on the moisture analyzer.
- Select drying program & set the drying parameters.
- Open the sample chamber and place an unused sample pan on the pan support.
- Tare the sample pan and select tare and confirm.
- Distribute approx. 2 g sample evenly on the sample pan.
- Close the sample chamber.
- Current moisture loss and elapsed time are displayed on the display.
- Calibration
- Daily Verification of Weighing Pan
- Turn on the analyzer.
- Select CAL button for calibration.
- Confirm CAL & Press Enter.
- Confirm again when Pb is shown. Press Enter.
- Tare the weighing System & Press Enter.
- Select CAL again.
- Confirm CAL & Press Enter.
- The prompt for calibration weight is displayed on the display
- Now open the hinged cover.
- Place the 30 g weight on the weighing system. Minus sign indicates weight value to low, Plus Sign indicates weight valve to high & No sign indicates weight value ok.
- The weight unit symbol (g) is displayed at the end of adjustment.
- Unload the analyzer. Close the cover.
- Quit Calibration.
- Acceptance Criteria: 30 ± 0.02 %
- Monthly Calibration of Moisture Content
- Clean the instrument with clean and dry cloth.
- Turn ON the main switch followed by the ‘ON/OFF’ switch,.
- Switch on the moisture analyzer.
- Select drying program & set the drying parameters.
- Now set the temperature to 1500C.
- Open the sample chamber and place an unused sample pan on the pan support.
- Tare the sample pan and select tare and confirm.
- Distribute approx 2-3 g of Disodium Tartarate evenly on the sample pan.
- Close the sample chamber.
- Current moisture loss and elapsed time are displayed on the display.
- Acceptance Criteria: 14-17 % at 1500 C
Precaution
- Handle the instrument carefully and properly.
- Do not handle the aluminium panel with oily or greasy fingers.
- Do not use abrasive or corrosive substances to clean the aluminium panel.
